Good morning and happy Monday. I can’t believe it’s the last week of fall 2023 classes (before finals at least). I hope that you all had a nice weekend and are ready for this last stretch to the finish line.

An Opportunity to Partner with Enrollment Management (EM)

As the EM team shared in a recent meeting with academic affairs leadership inclusive of the department chairs, Admissions has set aside $10,000 as seed funds to pilot support for faculty partnership in recruitment efforts, in alignment with the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan. The current funding cycle’s focus is twofold: recruiting prospective students (juniors or transfers) to apply for fall 2025 and driving commitment and enrollment for those who have already applied for fall 2024.

If you are a faculty member who is interested in this opportunity, please connect with your department chair and let them know of your interest, and then complete this request form

While EM would like to be able to fund all submitted recruitment efforts, given the limited availability of funds in the current year, they will prioritize the following:

  • Travel dates that occur in spring 2024, preferably including high-yield recruitment events scheduled February through April;

  • Advance coordination with Admissions;

  • A recruitment/yield purpose with a demonstrated tie to the SEM plan and a high benefit-to-cost ratio;

  • Travel that supports multiple efforts;

  • Programs that are trying to do something new; and

  • Programs that don't have funds available through other means to support their efforts.

Since there is no specific deadline, requesters will be notified as soon as a decision is made on a case-by-case basis. At that time, logistics for travel and reimbursement will be discussed further. EM does not want to limit opportunities to be involved, but they are working with a tight timeline and limited funds. After your travel, you will be asked for a short report of the effort’s impact and success.  EM intends to use this as a pilot to build out broader plans for the future, and the work done in this first round of travel will guide those efforts.

Law School Info Night, Wednesday, December 13, 2023

"Law School Info Night" will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm in the Library Fishbowl (LIB 209) where you'll have the opportunity to demystify the intricacies of the law school application process, explore diverse career paths for lawyers, and foster connections with faculty members who have navigated the journey through legal education.

This event is organized by a dedicated team of faculty and staff: Joice Chang, Jennifer Marlow, Andrea Juarez, and Fernando Paz, and is part of a campus-wide effort that underscores our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession. Our goal is to create an environment where all students feel empowered to explore the possibilities within a legal career, centering the experience of students who identify in whole or in part as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) across all academic fields.
