Provost Communication, Wednesday, April 12, 2023

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a great week. It’s a busy time of the semester although I’m glad to see that Spring appears to have finally arrived!

Updates from the Office of the Registrar

It is easier than ever for students to return and finish their bachelor's degree! The Office of the Registrar in collaboration with the Office of Admissions have streamlined the returning process even more since last year. Moving forward:

  • Students who previously attended but did not finish a bachelor's degree (undergraduate and second-bachelor’s), can now go to the updated website and complete the form.  No need to apply on CalStateApply OR pay the application fee. Whether they've been gone 2 years or 25 years, they can all use the form. Behind the scenes everything is more or less the same, but we're creating one point of entry to simplify the process for students.

  • Disqualified/reinstatement applicants can use this process as long as they've been away from Humboldt for the required amount of time (see the timeline tool - humboldt.edu/reinstatement). They will still need to Petition for Reinstatement just like always and be approved by the committee, but we're just cutting out the application fee/CalStateApply process since they are prior students of ours. (the reinstatement website is in the process of being updated)

Join Us for the Second Annual ASSESSTIVUS!

Please join us for Cal Poly Humboldt’s second annual Assesstivus event at the Baywood Country Club on Wednesday, May 3rd from 4:00pm to 6:30 pm. We will gather to celebrate assessment efforts aimed at measuring and improving the design and delivery of university programs and services, from student learning, to co-curricular experiential enrichment, to operational effectiveness and success. The university has made significant strides in assessment practices across campus, and this Assesstivus event will offer appreciation and commendation for the work behind those strides.

Faculty and staff presentations will showcase noteworthy practices, and awards will honor accomplishments and service. All members of the Cal Poly Humboldt community are invited to join us, so we hope to see you there. Please RSVP by clicking on this link by April 21, 2023. Free t-shirts available to those who RSVP first (limited supply). Light refreshments and drinks provided.

You’re Invited: University Senate Reception: Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 5 pm-7 pm

This year’s Senate Reception will be located at the Plaza View Room and catered by Uniquely Yours and will be held just after the Senate concludes from 5pm-7pm. The celebration is to honor incoming and outgoing senators, distinguished faculty award winners, and ERFSA small grant award winners. It’s also just a great opportunity to connect with your colleagues and the entire campus community is invited so we look forward to celebrating together. To RSVP, please click here

Call for Applications from the CSU System: Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP) Faculty Director and Pre-Doc Faculty Director

The Future Faculty Programs of the CSU Chancellor’s Office invites tenured faculty to apply for two positions: Faculty Director of the Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP) and Faculty Director of the California Pre-Doctoral Program. These important positions play critical roles in our efforts to increase the number of future faculty with the qualifications, motivation, and skills needed to teach the diverse students of the CSU. Please see the attached documents that provide additional information. The deadline to apply for both positions is April 24, 2023.

Have a wonderful rest of your day.

Jenn
