Congratulations to our own Dominic Corva (Cannabis Studies at Cal Poly Humboldt), Genine Coleman (Origins Council), Rachel Giraudo (Cal State Northridge), Todd Holmes (UC Berkeley Oral History Center), and Eleanor Kuntz (Leafworks Lab) for a recent grant award of $2,699,178 from the Department of Cannabis Control for a project called: Legacy Cannabis Genetics: People and Their Plants, a Community-Driven Study. This project is a multi-disciplinary, community-based participatory research project that will identify, document, and help to preserve the history, value, and diversity of California’s rural legacy cannabis genetics and the communities that steward them. Outstanding Student Awards

A shout-out to all of our outstanding student award winners who we celebrated last week at the awards reception. Our students, as well as the faculty and staff who support them, are truly amazing. Our two overall outstanding students of the year were: Steffi Puerto, Journalism and Critical, Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, and Molly Jane Urtz, Social Work. Summary of ITS's Outreach on Faculty IT Needs for Research & Creative Activities

Cal Poly Humboldt ITS is committed to supporting faculty and staff as they explore grant opportunities for research, creative activities, and program development. Many times these projects may require computing or software purchases. Other times, faculty and staff may be uncertain about the information technology needs of their projects. For these reasons, ITS has built resources for early consultation and planning. 

In 2022, faculty fellows completed 33 listening and information-sharing sessions with faculty from almost every major on campus. These meetings along with survey data generated 120 communications, help tickets, and actions. A few results include the following:

• Administrator access on field devices

• Access to high-performance and supercomputer resources

• Access to expanded storage and processing

• Mitigation of automatic reboot challenges

• SPF IT Pre-Award guidance

• New Research FAQs on ITS website

• ITS submitted NSF Cyber Infrastructure Grant

• Expanded campus Wi-fi

• and more!
