Good morning everyone! I hope your week is starting off well.

Well Done Cal Poly Women’s Soccer Team

Congratulations to the Women’s Soccer team for making the 2022 CCAA Championships for the first time in 16 years! They faced off against Chico yesterday and fell in a close one in double overtime. We’re so proud of the team.

Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop

Cal Poly Humboldt will host a workshop on how to integrate sustainability across the curriculum. This two-day workshop is for faculty members from Cal Poly Humboldt who are planning to include a module on sustainability in an existing course or to develop a new course module with a sustainability focus. A certain number of spots will be reserved for them. CSU sustainability coordinators, analysts, and staff are invited to participate in the workshop to learn how to facilitate a workshop with the faculty on their campus.

The workshop will take place January 10-11, 2023 at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center, Day 1: 9:30 am-5:00 pm and Day 2: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. Participants are expected to attend both days of the two-day workshop. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served and there is no cost for the workshop. To apply, a short online application is required. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until December 10, 2022, or until space is filled; early application is recommended. The workshop is limited to approximately 30 participants and participants will be notified approximately two weeks after application, and prior to the workshop will receive a reading list and event logistics. If you have questions please contact Dr. Jennifer Ortega, Sustainability Faculty Fellow, Cal Poly Humboldt jmm26@humboldt.edu

Brand Marketing Update and Call for Help Forthcoming

Simpson Scarborough, the brand marketing firm that Cal Poly Humboldt has contracted with to support our transition to a polytechnic, will be outreaching to departments (chairs and faculty) to schedule film shoots when their video team will be on campus November 8-10, 2022. They're looking for a variety of different footage to be used in multiple videos for secured media placements and will be creating videos as part of a long-term brand awareness campaign for the University. SimScar has requested some specific footage, most of which will require staging video shoots with 2-4 students and a faculty member. In addition, 10-15 testimonials from students will be gathered about their experiences at Humboldt. While all programs won’t be able to be documented during this session, the university is always looking for opportunities for Kellie Jo Brown and Mike Dronkers to come to classes and field trips, so please let MARCOM know when there are interesting opportunities throughout the year. If you have any questions please contact Kristen Stegeman-Gould.
