Decolonizing Sustainability Speaker Series November 2022

Please participate in the Decolonizing Sustainability Speaker Series on Wednesdays in November from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm which kicks off next month in conjunction with Native American Heritage Month. It will highlight the role of Indigenous knowledges to place-based learning by bringing in experts from an array of fields that work with Indigenous peoples and place-based learning at their home institutions. This is particularly relevant as Cal Poly Humboldt seeks to expand place-based learning communities for all incoming freshmen across our campus. Each event will feature an invited speaker and response from a Cal Poly Humboldt faculty member, followed by a series of breakout room discussions focused on how students and faculty at Cal Poly Humboldt can apply what they’ve learned during the session in their own teaching, research, and service. This series is intended to provide inspiration to our campus community as we develop and implement place-based learning communities that ethically engage with Indigenous peoples, places, and knowledges.

Focused Instructional Transitional Team (FITT) Update

The FITT committee has decided to decommission. As you may remember The Focused Instructional Transition Team (FITT), formerly the Fall Instructional Transition Team, was created to be a bridge between the EOC/Advanced Planning groups and Academic Affairs, bringing subject matter experts together to address the logistical realities of delivering face to face (F2F) instruction during the pandemic. The decision to decommission the committee parallels that of the EOC. I would like to personally thank each and every member of the committee for their tireless work. Please feel free to reach out to Enoch Hale with any concerns or questions.

She Kills Monsters Shows Continue This Weekend

The Department of Dance, Music, and Theatre presents for its second weekend, She Kills Monsters, the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
