Provost's Communication - November 2, 2022

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday. I hope you all are having a good week. The weather yesterday gave us a little bit of everything- sunshine and downpours, brisk temperatures, and warm moments. The fall season is certainly upon us and the energy and vibrancy are palpable.

$10,000,000 Healthcare Hub Investment

Senator Mike McGuire announced yesterday a $10,000,000 investment to transform the Samoa building into a state-of-the-art Healthcare Education Hub through a collaboration between College of the Redwoods and Cal Poly Humboldt. Please read the article for more information: https://lostcoastoutpost.com/2022/nov/1/all-hail-humboldt-health-hub/. This will truly be transformational for our region in addressing workforce shortages in healthcare.

Congrats to Jenni Robinson Reisinger- Cal Poly Humboldt’s Permanent Registrar

Yesterday,  Jenni Robinson Reisinger accepted the permanent position as University Registrar. Peggy Metzger noted that Jenni's many years of experience and her leadership skills make her an outstanding choice to lead the Office of the Registrar and collaborate with her colleagues in Enrollment Management and across campus. She also expressed appreciation for all of the feedback received, and for the work of the search committee: Dan Saveliff (chair), Andrew Kime, Travis Brunner, and Julie Alderson.

Zoom Recordings and Panopto Update and January 13, 2023 Deadline

Your Zoom recordings are now automatically uploaded and saved to Panopto, where you can view, edit, and share your work if desired. However, we need your help. The Cal Poly Humboldt Zoom account has reached capacity, and your videos are backed up in your personal Panopto Account. Therefore, your Zoom recordings need to be deleted from the Cal Poly Zoom account. Please delete your videos from your Zoom accounts by January 13, 2023, or contact the Help Desk at help@humboldt.edu ahead of that date as they are available to help you through this process. You will find archived recordings in your Panopto "Meeting Recordings" folder. And remember if you have any links to your recording that point to Zoom, they will need to be replaced with links that now point to your Panopto recordings. After January 13, 2023, all videos that remain stored in Zoom, will be deleted.

"My Black Is..." Exhibition and Opening Reception Wednesday, November 2, 2022

The Exhibition and Opening Reception will be held at the Reese Bullen Gallery. The reception will be held at the gallery from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. This exhibition is made possible through a collaboration with Black Humboldt, a community organization built for and by Black Humboldt residents. The My Black Is… exhibition centralizes Black and Brown bodies in spaces they are regularly marginalized from, or dominated by non-POC bodies and cultures. Black Humboldt works to normalize Black and Brown arts, art forms, and community members within all art spaces.

The exhibition runs through Saturday, December 3rd and the Reese Bullen Gallery can be found on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus in the Art Building, near the corner of Laurel Drive and B St. in Arcata. The gallery is open Wed/Thurs 12 pm-6 pm, Fri 11 am-5 pm, Sat 11 am-2 pm. Closed Sun/Mon/Tues. Also, open via appointment, please contact the Gallery Director at rbg@humboldt.edu, or call 707-826-3629. Admission is free. More information on this exhibition is available at https://artfilm.humboldt.edu/galleries along with a forthcoming virtual tour of the exhibition.
