Provost's Communication - August 31, 2022

Hi everyone,

Happy Wednesday. I hope everyone is having a fabulous week.

Call for CEEGE Dean Search Committee Members

For nearly the last two years Mr. Cyril Oberlander has graciously served as both the Dean of the Library and the Interim Dean of the College of Extended Education and Global Engagement (CEEGE) since the departure of Mr. Carl Hansen. The Dean is the chief administrative officer for the development and administration of the extension and summer session programs of community development and community service and the center for international programs. This fall we are going to commence a search for a permanent Dean of the CEEGE. I am seeking faculty, staff, student, and administrator representation on the committee.

To express interest in serving on the committee, please send a brief email to oaavp@humboldt.edu by Wednesday, September 7, 2022

New Position in Academic Affairs

Dr. Rebecca Robertson is serving as the new Individualized Degree Program (IDP) Director. In this role, Dr. Robertson will work collaboratively to administer a flexible interdisciplinary degree program that supports student success and serves as an incubator for new degree pathways. Dr. Robertson invites your input and ideas as she builds this program over the Academic Year 2022-2023.

Faculty Fellow Positions

I am excited to welcome back several faculty fellows from last academic year to the provost’s office as well as a few new faces.

In the areas of advising we have three advising faculty fellows who include: Dr. Sara Hart (CAHSS), Dr. Maria Iturbide (CPS), and Dr. Erin Kelly (CNRS). Dr. Iturbide and Dr. Kelly are returning to their roles for a second year and we welcome Dr. Hart as a new fellow. I am also excited to welcome back Dr. Mateo Dean as the International Faculty Fellow and Dr. Jennifer Ortega as the Sustainability Faculty Fellow. We are in the process of finalizing our Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) Faculty Fellow so stay tuned.

Cal Poly Humboldt College Colors Day: Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 pm

Rock your green and gold, bring your families, and join students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members as we celebrate our new Cal Poly Humboldt branding and enjoy some time together as a Lumberjack community! An expansion of the campus picnic and in alignment with National College Colors Day, this event will highlight our new Cal Poly Humboldt branding and include food, music, games, giveaways, and more!
